Dennis Mock Passes Away at 77

Dennis R. Mock of Hermiston died on June 9, 2025 in Boise, Idaho at the age of 77.

He was born on July 30, 1947 in Watsonville, Calif. to Russell and Faye Caudill Mock.

Dennis was raised and attended school in Watsonville, Calif. In his early years he served as a reserve police officer and attended college. Dennis was united in marriage to Sharon Ward on May 9, 1970 in Watsonville, Calif. They moved to Hermiston and Dennis went to work for Lamb Weston in the maintenance department. He later became a journeyman electrician and continued with Lamb Weston until retiring in 2013. He taught hunter safety classes for 25 years, where he shared his knowledge and love for the outdoors with thousands of youngsters. Dennis was a lifetime member of the Hermiston Classics Car Club and Northeast Bowhunters.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Sharon Mock, Hermiston; daughters, Jeanne Steffey and husband Stephen, Hermiston; Lori Davis and husband Joe, Stanfield; sons, Douglas Elliott and wife Kim, California, Jason Calhoun and wife Maria, California and John Calhoun, Umatilla; grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Karissa, Devin, Braden, Jarett, Olivia and Samantha; great-grandchildren, Finley, Oakley and Embyr; and several cousins.

Dennis was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Kathy Calhoun; and brother-in-law, Jack Calhoun.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, June 13, 2025 at 1 p.m. at the Hermiston Cemetery.

There will be a gathering at the Mocks’ house after the graveside services.
