HERMISTON, Ore.-The community is invited to celebrate the 55th Annual Distinguished Service Awards on March 19.

The awards, hosted by the Good Shepherd Community Health Foundation, honor those who live and work in the greater Hermiston area, including Echo, Stanfield and Western Umatilla County, and that have shown exceptional dedication to the community.

“It’s a great opportunity to celebrate inspirational community members who go above and beyond,” said Liz Marvin, the Foundation Executive Director.

Community members are nominated for Distinguished Service Awards by the public, and while it’s always a surprise who will win one of the six awards, the ceremony is open to the public

Tickets for the Distinguished Service Awards cost $35 and are available through the Hermiston Parks and Recreation Office at the Hermiston Community Center.

The evening includes a social at 5:30 p.m., dinner provided by Cookin’ Spoo Style at 6:15 p.m. and the awards ceremony at 6:45 p.m.

Awards for First Responder of the Year, Community Champion, Outstanding Young Citizen, Woman and Man of the Year and Business of the Year will be presented.

“We’re grateful to be able to host the Distinguished Service Awards for the second year,” said Marvin. “It’s so rewarding to be part of an event that acknowledges and shows appreciation for individuals in the community leading lives of service to others.”
