The Hermiston School District has hired Mattias Rahm to serve as its technology director.

The current HSD technology director, Bob Silva, tendered his resignation effective Dec. 31, as he accepted the position of director of technology for the Salem-Keizer School District.

Rahm, who will officially begin after the first of the year, is the current technology coordinator for the Sutherlin School District. He will bring 15 years of technology experience within education to HSD.

“We are extremely fortunate to find someone of Mattias’ skills and background,” said Deputy Superintendent Wade Smith. “We believe his knowledge, personality, and proven track record will continue to foster the outstanding technology infrastructure and cutting-edge learning experiences we offer students in Hermiston.”

Rahm was born and raised in Sweden, but he and his family has lived in Oregon since 2005. Mattias and his wife Meghan have eight children: Haylie (15), Maja (12), Andreas (11), Liam (10), Saoirse (8), Johannes (6), Evelina (4), and Izabelha (2).
