Donald K. Hewitt passed away at the age of 84 on July 31, 2026 in Hermiston.
He was born on Dec. 3, 1941 in Lackawanna, N.Y. to Donald S. Hewitt and Dorothy Ruehle.
Donald grew up in Hamburg, N.Y. and graduated from Hamburg High School. At the age of 18, Donald enlisted in the Navy. After being discharged from the Navy, Donald decided to stay out west, landing in California where he met and married his ex-wife. Donald would go on to adopt his ex-wife’s two children from a previous marriage.
From California, Donald moved to Idaho before ending up in Oregon, where he would live for the remainder of his life.
Donald was a skilled diesel mechanic. He loved the outdoors, hunting and fishing.
He is survived by his significant other of over 20 years, Nancy Hewitt, and his sister, Dale Ashdown.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A private military burial will be held in Venice, Fla. at a later date.
