SALEM, Ore.-Applications for the Oregon Department of Transportation’s (ODOT) High School to Highway Program that offers hands-on, full-time paid training in roadway maintenance are now open.
High school seniors and recent graduates are encouraged to apply for the second round of the ODOT program by April 25. The program is scheduled to start on roadways across Oregon in July.
Participants in the High School to Highway Program will work outdoors alongside experienced mentors on construction or maintenance crews repairing roads, bridges and other infrastructure, including in La Grande, Pendleton and Ukiah.
According to the ODOT, the starting salary for participants in the program is $3,856 per month, with a raise scheduled in after six months.
The High School to Highway Program is Funded by Federal-aid State Core Program Funds for Training, Education and Workforce Development, with the goal of helping build a skilled workforce in Oregon.
No experience is required for the positions and applications are available online through the ODOT.
