PENDLETON, Ore.-Compiling that fall reading list? The Pendleton Friends of the Library (PFOL) is hosting its annual book sale October 23-25.

The annual sale is the biggest fundraiser of the year for PFOL and will feature over 50,000 books, cds and dvds, including children’s books, fiction and nonfiction.

This year’s sale will also feature an expanded selection of rare books and gifts for book lovers, including PFOL-branded apparel, according to a PFOL press release on the sale.

PFOL 2025 Book Sale

  • Thursday, October 23: 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
  • Friday, October 24: 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Saturday, October 25: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

“In past years, Thursday night was a members-only preview, which sometimes caused delays as people renewed memberships at the door,” said PFOL President Tyler Johnson. “To streamline the process, this year Thursday admission will be open to all for a flat $5 fee.”

Admission to the sale is free on Friday and Saturday and the sale concludes with a $3 bag sale from 3-5 p.m. on October 25. All proceeds from the sale go directly to PFOL to support programs, materials, and other needs at the Pendleton Library.

Most of the items available at the annual sale come from community donations, according to PFOL. While donations for this year’s sale are now closed, they will resume in November, with donations of 20 boxes or fewer accepted on Monday evenings at the back door of Pendleton City Hall at 500 SW Dorion Ave. An appointment is needed to donate more than 20 boxes of books.

Anyone interested in volunteering at the book sale between October 20 and 25 can sign up online or by emailing PFOL at PendletonFriendsOfTheLibrary@gmail.com.
