HERMISTON, Ore.-Free summer meals are available to anyone under the age of 18 through the federally funded Summer Food Service Program, known as “Summer Meals,” in Oregon.

The summer meal program hopes to fill the nutrition gap children may face without access to school meals by providing food without any paperwork, income verification and regardless of immigration status, according to the Oregon Department of Education.

Summer meal programs served 1.4 million meals across Oregon during the summer of 2024, and sites in Eastern Oregon will start distributing food on June 16.

Breakfast, lunch and snacks will be distributed at about 700 sites across Oregon from mid-June through July or August, with the help of local cities, community organizations, parks and recreation departments and school districts.

Food distribution sites can be found by calling 211 or visiting the USDA Summer Meals Site Finder.
