HERMISTON, Ore.-The Good Shepherd Community Health Foundation board recently welcomed Shawn Lockwood as its newest member.

“I have a heart for volunteering,” said Lockwood. “One of my retirement plans is to get more involved with charities, and when an opportunity to serve on the board opened, it filled that gap.”

A longtime Hermiston resident and community volunteer, Lockwood retired in June after 17 years as an Accounting Manager with Hermiston Generating Company.

Over the years Lockwood has volunteered with Campus Life, Pacific Northwest Veterans Alliance, Camp Meadowood Springs speech camp, and she heads the Hermiston group of Days for Girls, an organization that assembles and distributes feminine hygiene kits around the world.

“I’m hoping to embrace community involvement as a board member,” said Lockwood. “I look forward to continuing to give back.”

When she’s not volunteering or spending time with her three children and eight grandchildren who live nearby, Lockwood also enjoys quilting.

“I am a quilter, that’s my thing,” said Lockwood, of the hobby she often combines with her passion for giving back, producing quilts for the Hermiston Festival of Trees.

“Shawn’s a great fit for our board,” said Liz Marvin, Executive Director of the Good Shepherd Community Health Foundation. “We’re a strong, working board, and she has a long history of serving the community.”

The Good Shepherd Community Health Foundation works to enhance the quality of life and general health of residents living in West Umatilla and Morrow Counties.

The foundation board is comprised of 15 members from the business and private sectors who serve three-year terms.
