Good Shepherd Health Care System (GSHCS) has welcomed two new urologists, Jeffrey La Rochelle, MD, and Eli Thompson, MD.

La Rochelle and Thompson join urologist Thomas Holt, MD at Good Shepherd’s Urology Clinic located at 600 NW 11th St., Suite E10 in Hermiston.

Dr. Jeffrey La Rochelle

La Rochelle is a Board-Certified urologist and urologic oncologist with more than 20 years of experience.  He has been caring for patients in Oregon since 2009 including patients from Hermiston, Pendleton and surrounding areas in his practice in Portland.

“I am truly gratified to be able to continue offering top-notch care closer to home for the patients of Eastern Oregon,” said La Rochelle.  “I can assure patients coming to Good Shepherd that the care my colleagues and I provide is unsurpassed in the Pacific Northwest.”

La Rochelle completed his medical doctorate from Rush Medical College in Chicago and his Residency in Urology from Rush University Medical Center in Chicago.  Following his residency, La Rochelle completed a fellowship in urologic oncology at the University of California in Los Angeles.  His areas of expertise include da Vinci robotic surgeries and urological oncology care.

“As a urologic oncologist, I have additional training and extensive experience managing cancers involving the urinary tract which can be from the adrenal glands, the kidneys, ureters, bladder, prostate, and urethra,” said La Rochelle.

Dr. Eli Thompson

Thompson is also Board-Certified and has also cared for Eastern Oregon patients since relocating to Portland three years ago.  He obtained his medical doctorate from Keck School of Medicine at the University of California, followed by a general surgery internship at the university’s Department of General Surgery.  Thompson completed his urology residency from the University of Southern California’s Institute of Urology.

“I have specialty training in advanced, open and minimally-invasive robotic surgeries,” said Thompson.  “I can help with all urological complaints from cancer to benign enlargement of the prostate to difficulties with urination and kidney stones. I’m very happy to come to Hermiston to offer my services and care to the patients of Eastern Oregon without the need for them to travel.”

Urologist Dr. Thomas Holt has cared for patients nearly 16 years at Good Shepherd.

“Our team is excited to onboard Drs. La Rochelle and Thompson as we continue to expand our capabilities and further improve access to high-caliber urologic care in our region,” said Holt.

Good Shepherd’s urology team provides care for both men and women with problems of the urinary tract, as well as care for select pediatric cases.  They offer diagnosis and treatment options including non-surgical treatment options, as well as surgery and robotic-assisted surgical care for conditions ranging from kidney stones and overactive bladder issues to infertility and cancer.  The team provides advanced robotic and laparoscopic skills that allow for minimally-invasive care plans for patients including smaller incisions, improved infection control and a faster recovery after surgery.
