HERMISTON, Ore.-The Greater Hermiston Community Foundation (GHCF) has awarded a total of $30,000 to four organizations to be used on community projects in 2025.
The four projects, chosen through a competitive grant process and geared toward enhancing youth literacy, improving community health, creating a public outdoor gathering space, and honoring veterans in the community, will be funded through the GHCF Forever Fund.
“Every organization that applied for these grant funds is making a difference,” said GHCF Board Chair Greg Harris. “We’re so pleased that through generous donations to the GHCF Forever Fund, we can play a small role in helping their work continue and grow.”
Organizations receiving 2025 Greater Hermiston Community Foundation Grants
- Stanfield Community Center: Will use the grant funding to develop a multi-use outdoor dining and activity area where meals can be served and parties or community events can be hosted
- The Umatilla School District Parent Club and Wellness Committee: Grant funds will purchase a book vending machine for Columbia Vista Intermediate School that will be available to 350 upper-elementary students
- The Hermiston Pickleball Project: Grant funding will allow for the completion of the finishing touches on the Good Shepherd Pickleball Complex at Theater Sports Park that opened in June
- Powerhouse Theater: With the grant funding 25 greater-Hermiston area veterans and their families will be able to attend a Veteran’s Day concert
“Volunteers have been working to build this addition to the Center, and being able to cover the cost of materials is a huge help,” said Marcia Flemmer, Executive Director of the Stanfield Community Center. “So many people are taking ownership of this project, and it will be a well-used amenity.”

The GHCF is a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the quality of life in Hermiston and the surrounding areas and relies on the financial support of donors to meet grant requests.
According to the GHCF, grants are made available through investment returns on the foundation’s Forever Fund, to which $2.85 million was recently added through a two-year Raise Up Umatilla County Endowment Campaign that brought in donations, pledges and matching funds.
