HERMISTON, Ore.-The Hermiston City Council approved a new power sales agreement between Hermiston Energy Services (HES) and the Bonneville Power Administration (BPA) at its regular meeting on October 27.
The City Council unanimously approved Resolution 2395, the Provider of Choice Power Sales Agreement, which extends HES’s partnership with BPA through 2044.
“This new contract is the result of collaboration between public power entities and representatives and was a five- or six-year process,” said Nate Rivera, HES General Manager.
HES currently gets all its power from BPA under a contract signed in 2011, that runs through 2028. The new agreement ensures continuity of service and will allow HES to continue providing affordable and dependable energy, according to the City.
“BPA guarantees to us that 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year, they will meet the power demands we have,” said Rivera. “The value of that is really immeasurable, so we appreciate the relationship we have with BPA.”
