HERMISTON, Ore.-The Hermiston Chamber of Commerce hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony for Chely’s Kitchen on February 26.
“Thanks for opening and bringing this delicious food to the community, and the breakfast option is great,” said Val Hoxie, Executive Director of the Hermiston Chamber of Commerce.
Chamber members, customers and community members attended the ceremony for the restaurant, located at 705 W. Orchard Avenue, and the first 50 people in attendance received free tacos
“Thanks everybody for coming and supporting us,” said Aracely “Chely” Estrada before cutting the ribbon outside her restaurant and welcoming the community inside to eat.

Estrada, who has worked as a cook at both Good Shepherd Health Care System and Armand Larive Middle School in Hermiston opened Chely’s Kitchen in December.
“It’s been pretty good,” Estrada said of her first few months in business at the restaurant where she shares kitchen duties with two other cooks and her son, Jessie, also helps out. “We appreciate the support and that people come in and like the food.”
Daily specials are posted on the Chely’s Kitchen facebook page, and Estrela has already built a strong contingent of regular customers, with several recommending the chilaquiles, with either red or green sauce.
“The food is really good,” said Jessica De La Cruz, who attended the ribbon-cutting and recommends the chilaquiles with red sauce or the tacos. “It’s near where we work, just down the street, so we’re here for breakfast almost daily.”
Chely’s Kitchen is open Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. until 4 p.m., with breakfast available until 11 a.m.
