HERMISTON, Ore.-The Hermiston Lacrosse team will play in the Washington High School Boys Lacrosse Association (WHSBLA) quarterfinals on May 17.

The Bulldogs, who went 12-1 in the regular season, advanced after defeating Peninsula 15-5 in the first round of the playoffs on May 10.

“We started out slow,” said Hermiston Head Coach Jacob Arnold of his team’s playoff win. “It was only 5-2 at halftime, but then we got rolling in the second half.”

Hermiston will meet perennial powerhouse Bellevue in the quarterfinals, a team that has appeared in the championship game the past two seasons, and that knocked the Bulldogs out of the playoffs last year.

Now, the Bulldogs will be playing for some revenge, as well as a berth in the semifinals on May 21 against the winner of the Snohomish/Roosevelt game.

“We feel pretty good about our chances against Bellevue,” said Coach Arnold. “We’ve been a solid, balanced team all season, so we’ll see how it plays out.”

Face-off for the quarterfinal game between Hermiston and Bellevue is at 5 p.m. at Bellevue High School on May 17.
