Hermiston Man in Custody, Facing Multiple Sex-Related Charges

A Hermiston man is in jail after his Tuesday arrest on several sex-related crimes.

The Umatilla County Sheriff’s Office  (UCSO) arrested Jose Olivarez Fernandez, 58, on charges of first-degree sex abuse, first-degree sodomy, first-degree unlawful sexual penetration, using a child in display of sexually-explicit conduct, as well as other charges.

According to the UCSO, the investigation began on Sept. 28, when the office received a report of suspected sexual abuse. On Tuesday, Oct. 6, investigating officers executed a search warrant of Fernandez’s residence, which led to his arrest.

Fernandez was arrainged on the charges Wednesday morning in the Umatilla County Circuit Court and is currently at the Umatilla County Jail.

UCSO said the case is remains under investigation.
