The Hermiston Bulldogs bounced back from a week 4 loss to Summit with a 36-6 win at Hood River Friday night.
Hermiston piled up nearly 500 yards from the line of scrimmage and were the beneficiaries of a powerful ground game and a solid performance from sophomore quarterback Andrew James.
Hermiston scored in each quarter and took a 14-0 lead into halftime and just turned up the pressure in the second half. James finished the night with 21-for-34 passing for 218 yards and a pair of touchdown passes. He also rushed for 73 yards and a score. Junior running back Jonathan Hinkle amassed 95 yards on 16 carries while Peter Earl and John-Henry Line each scored touchdowns for the Bulldogs. Junior receiver Jerry Ramirez led the Bulldogs with 10 receptions for 74 yards
The Bulldogs had 22 first downs on the night and held Hood River Valley to just 14.
The win improves Hermiston’s overall record to 2-3 and 2-1 in the 5A Special District 1.
The Bulldogs will return home next Friday to host Ridgeview at 7 p.m. at Kennison Field.
