HERMISTON, Ore.-Adrian Rodarte of the Hermiston School District has been named the Oregon Human Resources Specialist Professional of the Year for 2025.
“I was overwhelmed with emotion and deep gratitude,” Rodarte said of learning of his selection as this year’s HR Specialist of the Year. “To learn that I had been nominated by my peers made the recognition even more meaningful and humbling.”
Rodarte was honored with the award presented each year by the Oregon School Personnel Association (OSPA), for his contributions to the Human Resources Department, his dedication to fostering efficiency, and his lasting impact on human resources, according to an HSD press release.
“We are incredibly proud of Adrian and all he has accomplished,” said Dr. Tricia Mooney, HSD Superintendent. “His deep commitment to our district, his professionalism, and his heart for service make him incredibly deserving of this recognition.”
Rodarte joined the HSD in 2000 and has served in several positions, including HR Specialist for the past three years, where he has helped shape districtwide personnel programs and support systems, according to a press release on the award.
“Throughout the years, I’ve built many lasting friendships and had the privilege of serving in a variety of roles,” Rodarte said of his time with the HSD. “Including chess club instructor, educational assistant, attendance secretary, lead secretary, HHS color guard coach, and ALMS yearbook advisor.”
Rodarte has also served as the Oregon School Employees Association Zone 7 Director and asHermiston OSEA Chapter 10 president.
“Human Resources professionals often work quietly behind the scenes—ensuring compliance with district policies, upholding high standards, and honoring our district’s commitment to staff and union partners,” said Rodarte. “To be recognized in this way by colleagues who understand the importance and impact of this work is truly an honor.”
The value of that behind-the-scenes work has not been lost on the district.
“He exemplifies what it means to lead with integrity and compassion, and we are lucky to have him as part of our team,” said Dr. Mooney.
