HERMISTON, Ore.-Residents and business owners in both Hermiston and Umatilla have the opportunity to participate in a study to assess the need for broadband infrastructure that could allow for reliable internet service throughout the community.
The Cities of Hermiston and Umatilla are working with Strategic Networks Group (SNG) on the Broadband eCheckup, an internet needs study to gather community input.
The brief, 20-minute study will help City leadership better understand current internet access and service levels, as well as the future needs of the community as they plan for faster, more reliable broadband.
According to the City of Hermiston’s announcement of the study, City-wide broadband infrastructure would allow internet providers to expand services to areas that are currently underserved, resulting in improved economic opportunity, educational access and quality of life for both communities.
Residents and business owners are encouraged to complete one of two online studies: the Household eCheckup or the Business eCheckup.
Residents with an email address on file with the City received a link to participate in the study on January 13. Those without an email address on file may still participate in the study by following the links on the Hermiston and Umatilla City websites.
The Broadband eCheckup study will be available through February, with any pertinent updates and information posted on City websites.
More information about the Broadband eCheckup is available online.
