HERMISTON, Ore.-Hermiston hosted a playoff volleyball game against University High School out of Spokane on November 4.

“The team has been battle tested this year, and we have high expectations going into the playoffs,” Hermiston Head Coach Daniel Headley said before the 4th-seeded Bulldogs battled the 5th-seeded Titans.

The Bulldogs, who went 6-3 in the Mid-Columbia Conference this season and 10-7 overall, faced a Titans team that went 3-6 in the Greater Spokane League and 6-10 overall.

Although Hermiston had a better record, the Bulldogs know that anything can happen in the playoffs, and the team is staying hungry as they begin what they hope will be a deep playoff run.

“We have learned not to take anyone for granted, even though we’re facing a lower-seeded team in University, we know they have talent and experience on their side of the net,” said Coach Headley.

After dropping the first two sets of the match against University, Hermiston responded on Tuesday night, taking the third set 25-16, before coming up short in the fourth, losing the match 3-1.

Hermiston will play 8th-seeded Central Valley next in a loser-out match on November 8, as they continue a playoff journey they hope ends at the WIAA State Championships at the Yakima Valley SunDome, November 21-22.
