Efforts are under way to send the Hermiston Bulldogs off in style to their 5A state semi-final game against Marist on Saturday.

Supporters of the Bulldogs will be lining Highland Avenue Saturday morning to cheer the team as they head off to Hillsboro.

Tracy Gammell, one of the organizers, said the entire community is encouraged to arrive at Hermiston High School at 7:45 a.m. The team is expected to load onto the bus at 7:45 a.m. and leave by 8 a.m.

“We hope to line the streets with family and fans to cheer loudly as the boys drive down Highland Avenue on their way out of town,” Gammell said. “We will start lining up by the stadium entrance and hopefully we get enough fans to line all the way down Highland.

“Let’s show these hard-working young me that our community is behind them.”

The 10-1 Bulldogs will face the 9-3 Marist Spartans at Hillsboro Stadium at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday for the right to play the winner of the Springfield-Silverton game for the 5A state championship.
