LA GRANDE, Ore.-The La Grande Tigers are looking for a return trip to the playoffs as they prepare for the 2025 season.

“My expectations are very high for this season,” said third-year Head Coach Dalton Sheets. “I expect us to compete for the Greater Oregon League Championship and be a tough opponent in the playoffs.”

After a slow start last season, the Tigers found their footing, finishing with a 5-4 record, and should be an experienced team when they take the field in 2025, with 15 seniors on the roster.

“Nearly all of our starters from last season are returning,” said Coach Sheets. “We’re really excited about both our offensive and defensive lines setting the tone up front.”

The experience and stability of the Tigers will be tested with a tough nonleague schedule, including matchups against both Burns and Vale, the two teams that were in the 3A championship last season, as well as league matchups against Burns, Baker, The Dalles and Pendleton.

Several La Grande seniors have been starters on the gridiron since they were sophomores and are primed to lead a Tigers team that will also feature a good mix of young players who have put in the work and should see some action this season as well.

“I love the challenge of preparing for a new opponent each week and seeing the growth and development of all our players as we progress through the season,” said Coach Sheets.

La Grande opens the 2025 football season on the road August 29 against Seaside.
