The city of Hermiston and its police department recently signed a five-year $63,000 contract for body cameras with Axon Enterprise.

Hermiston Police Chief Jason Edmiston said the department has been using body cameras for nearly six years. The new contract with Axon Enterprises, formerly Taser International, will provide the police department with body cameras and data storage into 2024.

Edmiston thanked the city for extending the contract.

“The women and men of this department continue to receive incredible support from city leadership in order to do our job as effective and efficient as possible,” said Edmiston. “In times of limited resources due to large increases in the cost of PERS to the city, this $63,000 contract is very much appreciated by both the officers wearing the cameras and the public who have contact with our department.”
