Hunters rescued after being stuck in the snow near Meacham

UMATILLA COUNTY, Ore.-Two hunters were rescued after getting stuck in the snow near Meacham on the night of May 19.

Umatilla County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue (UMASAR) responded to the area of Summit Road near Meacham and the Union County border around 9:15 p.m. after the hunters reported that their UTV was stuck in the snow.

The hunters, a 30-year-old man from Seaside and a 28-year-old Clatskanie man, were reportedly unable to dig themselves out of the snow and were not equipped to spend the night outside as temperatures dropped, according to the UCSO.

UMASAR found the two men safe around 2:23 a.m. on May 20 and returned them to their camp.
