The parent company of Shari’s restaurants, Gather Holdings LLC, announced Tuesday, June 20, a deal to boost the company’s 42 Oregon-based restaurants.

The first Shari’s restaurant opened in 1978 in Hermiston. Pendleton also has a Shari’s.

The Shari’s Cafe & Pies in Walla Walla, Kennewick and Union Gap in Washington all closed this year.

Gather Holdings reported affiliates of MGG Investment Group LP made the investment but did not disclose financial terms of the deal.

“We are pleased to have found a supportive partner in MGG, which recognizes the significant value of our Oregon-based portfolio of Shari’s Restaurants,” said Sam Borgese, owner of Gather Holdings. “MGG has deep knowledge of video lottery gaming operations, which are present in our 42 Oregon restaurants, and we look forward to leveraging their expertise as we continue to provide the delicious meals and entertainment our loyal customers expect.”

Dale Stohr, a managing director at MGG, stated, “As a capital partner of choice to entrepreneurs, we are pleased to provide Sam and his team with the resources to drive future growth in Gather’s Oregon portfolio of Shari’s Restaurants.”

Borgese added the infusion of capital ensures the restaurants can continue their recoveries from the challenges of the coronavirus pandemic.

  1. Landscaping would be nice, updating or remodeling inside. Food has been great lately , but services are slow due to understaffing. A lot of times out of food. Our area Resturant is very much needed here in Bend, Ore. as we still a good family time Resturant. Many older, senior people enjoy gathering there to eat and visit neighbors. Family also enjoy it.

  2. Shari’s is our favorite place to go. The biggest complaint that I have is they don’t have cocktail sauce to serve with the fish and chips or fried shrimp and I do not like tartar sauce. Because of this we don’t eat there as often as we could. That and the face that the nearest one to us is 130+ miles away.

  3. The last couple of times we’ve been to Shari’s (Beaverton area), the food was subpar. You could tell the food had been frozen and just wasn’t as inviting as in years past. My friends and I would always go to Shari’s on Friday nights after the high school football games. The food was plentiful and actually tasted great. Something has happened between them and now to the supplier or something. Only thing Shari’s is good for these days is their pie.

  4. The food is not good as used to be.prices very high the restaurant does not look clean.they need a lot improve.was my special place for breakfast almost every day.

  5. Just came from Sharis in Eugene Oregon River Road.7/17/23 8:45pm Very sad all the favorites of the past have been removed. Sharies has always been the old folks place to eat. Older folks are fixed on what they like. When you remove their favorites they don’t go back. The food I had was very poor in taste. No Chef salad no tater tots. No mater how long the fries were down they could not get then well done with the inside cooked. Very sad dinner. If you take away the brand of pies or take away pie shakes you might as well close. Will only go back for coffee and pie. No more food.

  6. SHARI’S has a great reputation as a family friendly delicious place to dine. It just needs to return to its food roots with innovative and inspirational leaders, working together with the hardworking foundation they already have.
Also you need an upholster company with an eye for quality at reasonable prices, willing to travel and very experienced in the trade.
Well my family meets those requirements, with 50 years in the trade with eateries of all kinds. Our motto…Have staple gun; Will travel.
