
IRRIGON, Ore.-Eight wrestlers from Irrigon competed at the Oregon Freestyle and Greco Roman State Championships April 11-13 in Newberg, and two qualified for the National Championships.
Cinthia Madrigal finished second in freestyle and Greco Roman to qualify for nationals, while Lee Issel took third in Greco Roman to punch his ticket to represent Oregon at nationals.
Jackson Coffman and Cyrus Derowitsch both placed sixth in their respective weight classes in Greco Roman at the state championships.

Irrigon wrestlers Jaykob Dirksen, Zach Parton, Troy Parton and Anthony Vasquez also competed at state and gained valuable mat experience ahead of next season, according to the Morrow County School District.
The Oregon Freestyle and Greco Roman Championships are run by the Oregon Wrestling Association, which advocates for youth and amateur wrestling through the sponsorship and promotion of tournaments.
Sanctioned by USA Wrestling, the National Championships are July 10-19 in Fargo, ND.
