She was born March 12, 1919 at Inavale, Neb., to John and Augusta (Scharff) Copley. She was raised in Nebraska. On Aug. 10, 1941 she married Frank Elliott “Bud” Harns Sr. in Payette, Idaho. They moved to Umatilla in 1969 and then to Irrigon in 1970. Velma was a homemaker and a Tupperware manager for many years. She was an avid reader and was an active volunteer for 26 years at Stokes Landing Senior Center in Irrigon.
She is survived by sons, Bob (Carmen) Harns and Bud (Cathy) Harns Jr. both of Irrigon; five grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and three geat-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by husband, Frank “Bud” Harns Sr. in 1989; brothers, Lawrence and Ivan; and sister, Bernice.
Graveside funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 13, 2015 at 10 a.m., at Desert Lawn Memorial Cemetery in Irrigon. Viewing for family and friends will be held on Friday, June 12, 2015 from 11: a.m. to 5 p.m. at Burns Mortuary of Hermiston.
