Jim Tennant Passes Away at 82

James J. “Jim” Tennant of Hermiston died on March 28, 2025 in Hermiston at the age of 82.

He was born on Oct. 14, 1942 in Great Falls, Mont. to George and Betty Tennant.

Jim was raised and attended school in Montana. He served in the United States Army from 1962 until his honorable discharge in 1970. Jim lived in Milton-Freewater and worked as a corrections officer in Walla Walla, Wash. for many years. He moved to Hermiston over 20 years ago to be near his family. Jim enjoyed dogs and fishing and was an avid 49ers and Cincinnati Reds fan.

He is survived by his sister, Georgianna Dyer, Hermiston and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Dan Tennant; and sisters, Bonnie Tennant and Virginia “Jeanne” Bridges.

A graveside service with military honors will be held on Tuesday, April 8, 2025 at 2 p.m. at the Hermiston Cemetery.
