Larry Sater of Hermiston Passes Away at Age 73

Larry Michael Sater, 73,  passed away June 20, 2017 at Regency Care Facility in
Hermiston.

Larry was born March 16, 1944 in Hermiston to Ermol and Miriam Swarner
Sater. He attended school in Wallowa through the second grade and finished
school in Hermiston, graduating in 1962. He participated in football,
basketball and track.

Larry graduated from Oregon State University in 1967 then went to work for
State Farm Insurance in Salem. He married Jill Thomas of Hermiston then
later divorced. After being diagnosed with multiple sclerosis at 27, he moved back
home to be closer to family. He was an active member of the United Methodist Church until he was no longer mobile. Larry was an avid Beaver fan and often traveled around town with his OSU banner fluttering from his electric wheelchair.

He is survived by his daughter Holly, son-in-law Rob Burch and granddaughter Grace of Portland, sister Shirley (Mick) Kilby of Athena, brother Jon (Chris) Sater of Eugene, and numerous nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held Saturday, June 24, 11 a.m. at the Hermiston Cemetery. Donations can be made to Hermiston United Methodist Church or the Multiple Sclerosis Society through Burns Mortuary of Hermiston.
