With their sixth annual Lavender Festival just around the corner, Jim and Sheri Konningrud are busy preparing for what they hope will be another successful fundraiser.

The festival, which takes place on the Konningruds’ farm on Bridge Road in Hermiston from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, June 27, will benefit the Agape House and Martha’s House, a local homeless shelter.

“We have about 20 volunteers working with us to make this all possible,” Sheri said.

Attendees will have the opportunity to explore the lavender fields and harvest their own bundles. A gift shop will also be open throughout the day, which features a wide variety of lavender-based products, including sachets, chocolate, syrup, tea, hydrosol, and lotion.

As with every year, the Lavender Festival is more than just a spotlight for the Purple Ridge Farm; it’s a celebration for locally-owned businesses throughout the area. This year’s vendors include Kennewick painter Brandi Dayton, 2 Cool Creations Jewelry, ReineCrafts, DAM Wood Designs, Pola Galindo Glass Art, Umatilla artist Jan Beitel, Auntie Ida’s Quilt Expo, and more.

Live music will also be a main attraction. Scheduled to perform this year are Cruise Control, the Brad and Bruce Power Duo, Rock Blythe & 2-Faced Johnny, and Nancy & Bill.

The 2015 Lavender Festival is open this Saturday, June 27, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and is located at 29081 Bridge Road in Hermiston. General admission is $10, or $12 for those who want to taste craft beer.
