Mark Ray Whitbeck of Irrigon died on Jan. 3, 2026 in Hermiston at the age of 73.
He was born on Aug. 28, 1952 in Hood River to Monte and Joyce Buck Whitbeck.
Mark was raised in the Hood River area. He was united in marriage to Joyce Barzee on June 11, 1971 in Fossil. They lived in Hood River until moving to Irrigon in 1974, where they have lived since. Mark worked as a mechanic at U & I (Oregon Potato) in Boardman for several years and later for Marlette Homes in Hermiston as a fabricator until he retired. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and building model cars and was a hot rod enthusiast and an avid yard-saler.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Joyce Whitbeck, Irrigon; sons, Jason Whitbeck, Irrigon, Ray Whitbeck (Chelsea), Golden Valley, Ariz. and Jeff Whitbeck, Irrigon; daughters, Karri Harley (Rusty), Irrigon; nine siblings; grandchildren, Megan Harley, Ashleigh Harley, Malorie Whitbeck, Lexi Whitbeck and Brody Whitbeck; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mark was preceded in death by his parents.
A family celebration will be held at a later date.
