Naomi Ruth Harrell, formerly of Hermiston, passed away in Echo on May 2, 2025 at the age of 86.
She was born on Sept. 7, 1938 in Mineral Wells, Texas to Ewell and Edith Britton Shires.
Naomi grew up and attended her schooling in Weatherford, Texas. She married Gerald Harrell in 1972 in California. The couple lived in Arcata, Calif. for several years before moving to Hermiston in 1978. While living in Hermiston, she worked for Lamb Weston in the packing department for over 20 years. After she retired, the couple moved to Yellville, Ark., where they resided from 2000 until 2019. She lived in Grants Pass for five years until moving to Echo in late 2024.
Naomi enjoyed traveling, crocheting (especially baby blankets), listening to southern gospel music and going to southern gospel concerts, and was a longtime member of the Church of God. She adored all of her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
She is survived by her children, Debbie Scott, Joe (Wanda) Stephens, Joy (Martin) Hotchkiss and Pauline (Daniel) Sherbahn; stepsons, Gerald Harrell and Keith (Penni) Harrell; 12 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and several great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald on May 4, 2022; her parents; daughter, Sheryll; brothers, Wesley and Paul; and a sister, Waudene.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, May 8, 2025 at Burns Mortuary of Hermiston, 685 W. Hermiston Ave.
A celebration of life service will also be held in Grants Pass (details will be announced later).
Burial will be in Hawthorne Memorial Gardens in Grants Pass.
