PYSA and the City of Pendleton recently partnered to bring two new drinking fountains to Grecian Heights Park thanks to a Pendleton Foundation Trust grant

PENDLETON, Ore.-Two new water fountains have been installed in the North and South ends of Grecian Park in Pendleton.

Pendleton Youth Soccer Association (PYSA) purchased the fountains with funding from a grant from the Pendleton Foundation Trust and the City of Pendleton handled the installation.

“We appreciate the generosity from the Pendleton Foundation Trust and the partnership with the City of Pendleton to make this project a reality,” said Jill Gregg, PYSA President. “Our youth soccer players have been needing accessible water fountains where they can rehydrate during practices, matches and camps, and now our community will also benefit at the park.”

The new water fountains are located near the playground at Grecian Heights Park South and just across the pedestrian bridge at Grecian Heights Park North, and feature traditional waterspouts for drinking, as well as water bottle filling capabilities and spickets for filling containers such as dog water bowls.

PYSA uses both the south and north park soccer fields throughout the year for practices, matches, tournaments and camps. PYSA’s spring soccer season is currently underway through mid-May.

“We found that as our soccer community continues to grow, so did the need for access to water,” said Gregg. “PYSA now hosts three summer soccer camps and our recreational leagues in the fall and spring that bring teams from out of town. Having these fountains will strengthen our soccer program and enhance the city park for all to enjoy.”

PYSA also hosts an annual Portland Timbers FC soccer camp in August and is currently looking for sponsors.

Businesses or organizations interested in sponsoring the camp so that registration fees may be kept at $50 per player, rather than the normal $265, should contact PYSA Sponsorships Coordinator Casey White-Zollman, cmwzollman@gmail.com.
