Nicky Barreras Passes Away at 75

Nayelena Maria Crayle “Nicky” Barreras passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on July 5, 2026 at the age of 75.

She was born on April 10, 1951 in San Jose, Calif.

Nayelena’s journey brought her to Hermiston in 1953, where she built a life rooted in family. She was a dedicated worker who spent 45 years at Lamb Weston, where her hard work and steady presence left a lasting impression. She lived on her family homestead her entire life except for her last two and a half years.

Nayelena was a woman of many passions and a deeply creative spirit, creating beautiful quilts, crocheting, and painting figurines. She took immense joy in making things for her numerous nieces and nephews.

She is loved by her siblings, Lonnie (Allen) Barreras, Tadrina (Teresa) Kelly and Tammy (Tomasa) Davis.

She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Tereso Barreras and Bertha George Barreras, as well as her siblings, Dundee (Joe) Barreras and Murriena Barreras.

She leaves behind a legacy of love and warmth that will be remembered by her surviving family.

A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 25, 2026 at the Hermiston Cemetery.

A reception will follow the service at 670 Tinley, Stanfield.
