The Oregon House on Thursday passed HB 3235, Oregon’s first ever state-based child tax credit that will provide $1,000-per-child for working parents struggling to make ends meet

Known as the Oregon Kids’ Credit, HB 3235 will help families cover rising cost of living. According to the Oregon Center for Public Policy, approximately 55,000 Oregon children are expected to benefit from this credit. The bill now heads to the Senate for consideration.

“HB 3235 is a bipartisan bill targeted at supporting our most vulnerable Oregonians,” said State Rep. Greg Smith (R-Heppner) a chief sponsor of the bill. “Supporting youth has always been a priority to me and I was thrilled to be part of crafting this bill and getting it passed.”
