HERMISTON, Ore.-Results of the 2024-25 Oregon Statewide Assessment, given to students in grades 3-8 and 11 annually, are now available
The assessment includes English Language Arts (ELA) and math for all students who take it, with students in grades 5, 8 and 11 completing an additional Science portion.
Hermiston School District
In the HSD, student proficiency in ELA saw a small 0.1 percent drop, while Mathematics increased by 1.1 percent and Science rose by 0.8 percent.
Assessment results show that HSD students in grades 6–8 consistently performed above the state average in ELA, while 11th graders in the HSD outperformed the state ELA by 11.6 percent.
“Our vision is for every Hermiston graduate to leave high school prepared for career and life,” said Superintendent Dr. Tricia Mooney. “The progress we are seeing is possible because of the dedicated educators who show up every day for students.”
The families of current 4th through 9th and 12th grade students, who took the assessment last school year, will receive individual score reports this fall, according to the HSD.

Umatilla School District
While students in Umatilla schools complete the statewide assessment requirements, the district relies on the Measures of Academic Processing (MAP) testing to chart student learning.
MAP testing is focused on student growth in reading, language use and math, is nationally normed, and is administered three times a year so that instruction may be modified based on student achievement or needs.
