A dozen Northwest colleges and universities will descend upon Blue Mountain Community College on Wednesday, March 4, for Oregon Transfer Day to help students interested in transferring on to a four-year institution learn more about their options.

Oregon Transfer Day at BMCC will take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Pioneer Hall.

First launched by a coalition of admissions professionals in 2007, the annual Oregon Transfer Days (OTD) outreach tour brings admissions and recruitment professionals from Oregon’s seven public universities, private and out-of-state colleges to all 17 Oregon community colleges to help students understand and prepare for the next step in their college careers. Students have the opportunity to meet with college and university representatives, and learn more about each campus’s offerings, admissions requirements, choosing courses wisely, navigating college costs and financial aid, and tools to make their transition as seamless as possible.

BMCC students are welcomed and encouraged to join in whether they are actively planning to transfer, or just starting to consider their four-year degree opportunities. Thousands of students each year make the transition from a community college to a four-year college or university, and planning ahead helps students to find the right fit in a college program and to transfer credits effectively, saving time and money.

“Any student who’s even considering transferring on from BMCC should come to visit with the various schools,” said BMCC Transfer Success Coach Shelly Mack, who has organized the event for BMCC. “There’s a lot of deciding factors for students deciding the next steps in their education, and this is a really easy and efficient way to learn about the different options.”

Representatives from the following institutions will participate: Eastern Oregon University, Eastern Washington University, Grand Canyon University, Linfield College, Oregon State University, the Pacific Northwest College of Art, Pacific University, Portland State University, University of Idaho, University of Oregon, University of Western States, and Western Governors University. In addition, the Oregon Office of Student Access & Completion will also be on site to provide information to students.
