UMATILLA COUNTY, Ore.-A pedestrian was hit and killed by a car on Highway 395A on the morning of December 11.
According to Oregon State Police (OSP), 39-year-old Tony McCorkindale, of Pendleton, was hit and killed while crossing an unlit area of the highway near milepost 2 in Umatilla County around 5:13 a.m.
McCorkindale was hit by a northbound Scion xB driven by a 37-year-old Hermiston man around 5:13 a.m. and died at the scene from his injuries.
Hermiston Police, Umatilla County Fire District #1 and the Oregon Department of Transportation all responded to the crash and traffic was impacted for about four hours, according to OSP.
The driver of the Scion was reportedly uninjured in the crash.
OSP’s Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU), which investigates all deadly crashes on Oregon Highways is now investigating the crash.
