PENDLETON, Ore.-The City of Pendleton is launching a new educational code enforcement campaign to inform residents about compliance issues.
The City of Pendleton’s Municipal Code, enforced by the Pendleton Police Department (PPD), is used to maintain a safe, clean, and attractive city and contains guidelines for addressing a range of concerns, from abandoned cars to weed control.
The addition of a second code enforcement officer this year will enable Pendleton to respond to code concerns, as well as take a more proactive approach focused on educating and informing the community about specific code and compliance issues.
According to the City of Pendleton, the education campaign will begin with two common code enforcement issues: street tree maintenance and sidewalk maintenance.
Residents should expect more information on the two issues, including trees that extend into the public right-of-way and plants that block line-of-sight for drivers.
The City of Pendleton, Pendleton Public Works and the Pendleton Police Department plan to make more information about these two codes available to residents through the City’s website, on social media, with flyers in monthly utility bills, and contact from code enforcement if a home or business is in violation of the code.
The goal of the new educational campaign is to inform residents about the regulations and give them time to correct any issues, according to the City.
More information about Pendleton’s Municipal Code is available through the City. Anyone with questions about specific codes or the new educational campaign can contact the PPD Code Enforcement Officer.
