HERMISTON, Ore.-The Northwest Intercollegiate Rodeo Finals are April 25-26 at the Eastern Oregon Trade and Event Center (EOTEC) in Hermiston.

Hosted by the Blue Mountain Community College Rodeo Boosters, the two-days of rodeo action are the last time to see college rodeo athletes compete in the region before the College National Finals in Casper, WY, in June.

“These college athletes worked all year, and this is the final weekend to showcase their hard work before the next step when they compete against other regional leaders at nationals,” said Rebecca Manning, President of the BMCC Rodeo Boosters, a nonprofit that works to support the future of rodeo and the BMCC rodeo teams.

The Regional Finals include bareback, tiedown roping, saddle bronc, steer wrestling, goat tying, team roping, barrel racing, breakaway roping and bull riding.

BMCC’s Men’s and Women’s Rodeo Teams will both compete in Hermiston this weekend.

“We have a pretty good shot between the men’s and women’s teams from BMCC to make the College National Finals,” said Manning. “When the dust settles on Saturday, we’ll find out who’s packing their bags for Casper.”

The Regional Finals consists of two rodeos, with Friday night designed to be the home rodeo for BMCC, with the top ten rodeo athletes then competing Saturday night in the Championships for a spot in the College Finals.

Friday night will also feature live music after the rodeo with performances by Cory Peterson and Dog Bite Harris.
