Stan Toms Passes Away at 83

Stanley T. “Stan” Toms died on July 15, 2026 at his home in Boardman at the age of 83.

He was born on Jan. 26, 1943 in Portland to Louis and Catherine Ward Toms.

Stan graduated from Castle Rock High School in Castle Rock, Wash. He was united in marriage to Linda Sample on June 6, 1964 in Madras. They lived in Madras and Stan worked for the 76 service station, which later became the Mobil service station, and as a clerk at Erickson’s Super Market. He was a reserve with the Madras Police Department before becoming a full-time police officer, where he worked for several years. They moved to Boardman in 1986, where they have lived since. Stan worked as a security officer for Boeing for several years, retiring as the security manager in 2018. He enjoyed car restoration, going to car shows and camping and was very artistic.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Toms, Boardman; sons, Kevin Toms, Boardman and Jeff Toms, Boardman; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Stan was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Louis (Frankie), Mansell and Mignon.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, Aug. 21, 2026 at 1 p.m. at Mount Jefferson Memorial Park, Madras.
