Stanley Paul Mills passed away peacefully on Sept. 17, 2025 at Regency Skilled Nursing Facility in Hermiston following a stroke.
Stan was born on Oct. 14, 1940 in Scottsbluff, Neb. to Chester Woodrow and Dorothy Mae Hanway Mills.
His mother passed away suddenly in June 1946. Chester married Edna Anderson and little brother Kenneth joined the family.
The Mills family farmed in Scottsbluff until January 1949. They were loaded up and ready to move west to Oregon when a sudden snow storm hampered their efforts. They had to dig out of the massive snow to leave Nebraska.
Stan attended grade school at Owyhee School and then Adrian Elementary. He graduated from Adrain High School in May 1958. Following graduation, Stan moved to California where he met and married Janet Kelly in 1962. Following the birth of their daughter, Kelli, the family moved back to Oregon to farm with Stan’s dad.
Soon son Kevin was born and the family was complete. They farmed near Nyssa until 1978, when they decided to move to the Hermiston area to farm. Stan and Jan later divorced.
Stan married Grace Smith in 1997 and they spent their retirement years living in Irrigon.
Stan loved to hear about his grandkids’ and great-grandkids’ activities and was very proud of all of them. He beamed with pride telling about their latest accomplishments.
Stan is survived by his wife, Gracie; son, Kevin (Toni); grandchildren, Taylor Eacker, Wyatt Mills, and Lily Mills; daughter, Kelli McPeak (Perry); grandchildren, David McPeak, Shana Franklin and Sarah Martin; and six great-grandchildren.
Stanley was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy; father, Chester; and his step brother, Kenneth.
There will be a graveside service held on Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2025 at 11 a.m. at Desert Lawn Memorial Cemetery in Irrigon.
The family would like to thank the staff at Regency for their loving care of our dad and grandpa.
