Suspect in shooting death of Hermiston teen arrested

HERMISTON, Ore.-A teenager from Hermiston has been arrested in connection with the shooting of Cristian Lucas Juan De Dios on January 9.

Hermiston Police responded to reports of a shooting around 9:15 p.m. that resulted from a fight in the parking lot of Butte Park.

De Dios, 18, a student at Hermiston High School, later died from his injuries, with Hermiston PD notifying his family around 2 a.m. on January 10.

The Umatilla County Major Crime Team assisted Hermiston PD with the shooting investigation, and all those involved were reportedly known to police.

According to Hermiston PD Chief Jason Edmiston, the investigation into the shooting has concluded, and a 15-year-old from Hermiston has been arrested and charged with Manslaughter in the First Degree.

The juvenile suspect, whose name is not being released at this time, reportedly had no known criminal history in the area.

A total of seven people, ranging in age from 15 to 23, were involved in the incident at Butte Park, five of which have now been charged with crimes, including four juveniles.
