Three new positive cases of COVID-19 or coronavirus are being reported today in Umatilla County, bringing the total number of people infected to 27.
Umatilla County Health (UCo Health) said officials been in contact with these individuals and their families and are reaching out to all identified close contacts of these individuals to provide education and guidance. Each individual has been identified as a close contact of a confirmed case. These individuals are self-isolating and recovering at home.
UCo Health officials say 12 of the 27 individuals have recovered and one is in the hospital. Individuals are considered recovered when they have been free from symptoms including fever, cough and shortness of breath for 72 hours.
There have been no reported deaths due to COVID-19 in Umatilla County. There have been 533 COVID-19 tests conducted in the county, with 506 coming back negative.
In conjunction with Oregon Health Authority guidance, employers are asked to support employee time off for recovery and to send visibly ill employees home.
Last week the county released a map showing where the cases of coronavirus are occurring in Umatilla County.
Anyone who is exhibiting any symptoms of respiratory illness must stay home from work for 72 hours after all symptoms (fever, cough, shortness of breath, etc.) have resolved.
Officials say the county will continue to update its Umatilla County Public Health Facebook page as new information becomes available. County specific test result data is available on the county health website and will be updated Monday-Friday.
