A Umatilla man is being called a “person of interest” in the shooting deaths of three Pasco residents.

According to the Tri-City Herald, Francisco Javier Resendiz Miranda, 23, is currently in the Umatilla County Jail on suspicion of attempted assault, unlawful use of a weapon and menacing – charges unrelated to the shooting deaths. He was also spotted in a surveillance video at a Umatilla gas station driving away with the three Pasco residents hours before they were found shot to death in a cornfield in Benton County, the Herald reported.

Abigail Torres-Renteria, David Perez-Saucedo and Victoria Torres were driven from the gas station around 10:30 p.m. Friday, less than six hours before they were killed early Saturday morning, according to the Herald. According to the Herald, Torres-Renteria, 23, and Torres, 19, were both shot once in the neck, autopsies showed. Torres-Renteria was pregnant with a “full term” baby girl who did not survive. Perez-Saucedo was shot twice in the head.

Miranda was arrested after an incident at a convenience store sometime late Saturday or early Sunday, said Daniel Primus, Umatilla County district attorney.
