The Umatilla City Council had too many questions – administrative and philosophical – to approve a new zoning and business plan for the city Tuesday night.
Instead, the council voted to carry a public hearing – and any decision – over to the June 16 meeting. The next meeting is June 2; however, city staff said the agenda for that meeting is already lengthy and recommended carrying the zoning issue until June 16.
In addition, council members will provide all administrative questions in writing to city staff by the end of day June 22. Staff will answer those questions for council members prior to the June 16th meeting.
“Staff will respond to questions that deal with administrative issues but not questions that seek to explain or justify the actions of the Planning Commission,” City Manager Bob Ward said. “Regardless of the reasons behind the Planning Commission’s direction, the council will need to decide if they support that direction, reject that direction or wish to modify that direction.”
Umatilla City Council meetings begin at 7 p.m. at Umatilla City Hall.
