W.D. “Crazy Dave” Williams of Hermiston passed away on October 15 at the age of 72.

He was born May 3, 1954 in Peoria, Illinois to Alvin and Bettye Williams.

Dave worked as a train switcher for Caterpillar in East Peoria, Illinois, until he suffered an injury on the job.

Dave then attended Illinois Central College, where he earned an Associates Degree and continued in office jobs for Caterpillar until becoming permanently disabled.

In 1991 Dave moved to Eastern Oregon to be closer to his sisters.

Dave will always be remembered for his ability to make people laugh with his warped sense of humor, bluntness and showing the true meaning of friendship. He was proud to wear the title of “The Mouthy Ole Southern Bastard!”

Dave was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Bettye Thomas; and his brother, Ernest Williams. He is survived by two children; Penny Lynn Williams and Jason Donald Williams.

A family gathering will be held in Dave’s honor.

Donations in Dave’s honor may be made to Vange John Memorial Hospice in appreciation for their support.
