HERMISTON, Ore.-A recent grant from the Wildhorse Foundation will help Fuzz Ball Animal Rescue as it continues to provide essential veterinary care in Umatilla and Morrow Counties.
Fuzz Ball, a foster-based rescue in Hermiston, will use the $10,000 in grant funding for spay and neuter, vaccine and microchipping services.
“Fuzz Ball Animal Rescue is the only rescue in Umatilla and Morrow counties to provide rescue care for stray animals,” Fuzz Ball said in a release announcing the grant funding. “We collaborate with Pet Rescue, the only local shelter that operates with very limited resources and provide the veterinary care that the shelter simply can’t afford.”

Fuzz Ball started as a small rescue helping a few animals and now takes in injured and ill animals who end up at the shelter, according to a press release on the grant funding. The organization has also been involved with rescuing animals from hoarding and cruelty cases.
According to Fuzz Ball, as the homeless and extremely low-income population grows, so does the need for vet care, including spay/neuter services and food.
“With this generous grant from the Wildhorse Foundation, we can spay, neuter, and vaccinate more animals in our community and continue to tackle this animal overpopulation crisis,” said Fuzz Ball.

The Wildhorse Foundation has awarded a total of over $19 million in grant funding to eligible nonprofit, government, and Tribal organizations since 2001.
