SALEM, Ore.-Mild February weather got you itching to get outside? Anglers in Oregon can fish for free this Presidents Day Weekend.

The Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife (ODFW) is offering free fishing, crabbing and clamming across the state February 14-15.

Trout will be stocked in several lakes across Oregon for the two days of free fishing, and the ODFW’s weekly recreation report highlights the best spots to wet a line, including water levels, hot spots and alerts.

Presidents Day Weekend is the first of three free fishing weekends ODFW will host in 2026, with the others scheduled for June 6-7, and over Thanksgiving Weekend in November.

With highs in the mid-40’s expected for the weekend around Hermiston, it should be a good opportunity to hit the water.

While trout stocking in lakes and reservoirs in Northeastern Oregon will not resume until March, there are still some late winter fishing opportunities available in the area.

As of February 5, fishing for trout and whitefish should be good on the Wallowa River, kokanee fishing should be good in Wallowa Lake, and trout can be found in Willow Creek Reservoir, according to ODFW.

Oregon residents and non-residents can fish for free over Presidents Day Weekend. Oregon’s full sport fishing regulations are available online.
