UMATILLA, Ore.-The Oregon Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) State Leadership Conference was held April 14–16 in Lebanon and five Umatilla High School students qualified for the National Leadership Conference this summer.
According to the Umatilla School District, FCCLA students presented projects that included creating and testing superfood drink targeted for K-12 students and leading a community garden project focused on child development at the state convention.
Umatilla FCCLA students also competed in job interview and interpersonal communications events at state that included assembling portfolios and participating in mock interviews, according to a USD press release.
“It was really exciting for all our hard work to pay off and get to go to nationals,” said Daniella Lopez, a Junior who competed in Food Innovations. “At Nationals, I’m looking forward to getting to meet new people from different states.”

FCCLA offers intra-curricular resources and opportunities for students to pursue careers that support families. More than 244,000 students participate in FCCLA in more than 5,300 chapters across the country.
The National FCCLA Convention is July 5-9, 2025 in Orlando, Florida.
