SALEM, Ore.-Looking to wet a line this weekend? Anglers in Oregon can fish license free June 7-8.
No fishing/shellfish licenses or tags are required over the weekend, and Oregon residents and nonresidents alike can fish for free statewide.
Closures, bag and size limits are still in effect and anglers are encouraged to check the Oregon Sport Fishing Regulations before hitting the water.
Free Fishing Weekend is a good opportunity for families to try fishing, and several ponds and lakes across the state will be stocked with rainbow trout ahead of the weekend, according to the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife (ODFW).
A trout stocking schedule listing the body of water and how many trout have been stocked is available online through the ODFW.
Oregon sport fishing regulations are organized by zone and the ODFW provides online tips on how and where to fish in each zone, including 15 Great Places in the Northeast Zone for Families to Fish.
Anglers who take advantage of free fishing weekend in Oregon are encouraged to snap a picture of their catch and share it at MyODFW.com.
