UMATILLA COUNTY, Ore.-Replacement ballots for the May 20 Special Election are being mailed to Umatilla County voters affected by a recent printing/issuing error.

“We have received word that the replacement ballot packets containing the correct ballot style will begin arriving May 5,” said Stephen Craigen, Umatilla County Elections/Records Supervisor.

A voter contacted the Umatilla County Elections Office on May 1, and brought the “ballot-style discrepancy” to the attention of election officials.

After investigating the discrepancy, it was determined that the majority of voters in Precincts 110, 111 and 115, in the Pendleton area, but not within the city limits, were issued incorrect ballot styles, according to an Umatilla County Elections press release.

Voters can verify if they were issued the wrong style ballot by looking at the set of numbers above the mailing address on the return envelope that came with their ballot.

If the second series of numbers and letters that starts with a P is 110, 111 or 115 and your ballot was affected, then a replacement ballot will be mailed.

Holds have been placed on ballots from the affected precincts that have already been voted and returned.

Residents can vote and return their replacement ballots without any fear of “trying to vote twice,” according to Umatilla County Elections.

Anyone with any questions or concerns about ballot discrepancy can contact the Umatilla County Elections office at 541-278-6254.
